Marrakech Airport Basic Info

Marrakech has one international airport located very close to the city centre and the medina (old town). The airport’s name is Marrakech Menara Airport and its IATA code is RAK. Marrakech Menara Airport is the second busiest airport in Morocco and among the busiest airports in whole Africa.

Airlines and Flights to Marrakech Airport

Menara Airport is one of the hubs of the Moroccan flagship carrier, Royal Air Maroc. Marrakech has good connections to many destinations, especially in Europe. The leading European low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Easyjet) offer direct flights to Marrakech Menara.

If you are travelling to Marrakech from more distant destinations (e.g. in Asia or Americas), you will probably have to change flights in Casablanca, which has the busiest airport in Morocco.

Marrakech Airport Transfers

It is very easy and cheap to get from the Menara Airport to Marrakech city centre. You have several options: walking (30-40 minutes at least), a taxi (they are cheap in Marrakech), or a local bus (this option can be slow and less comfortable though).

Hotels near Marrakech Airport

There are no hotels immediately next to the airport terminal at Menara, but there are a few much more beautiful places very close (about 3 km) to the airport. One of them is Agdal, the south end of Marrakech with huge gardens. Not far from Agdal there are two good golf courses (Golf Royal and Golf Amelkis), all within walking distance from the city. Or you can pick a location directly in or next to the medina (old town) if you want to stay in the centre of all the action in Marrakech.
