Blackheath, London

Blackheath is a district in London located to the south from Greenwich, east from Lewisham, west from Kidbrooke, and north from Lee. It is mainly residential and very green; it feels almost like a village.

The name Blackheath can refer to several different places in this area:

  • Blackheath – the whole district
  • Blackheath – the green grassland or park-like area in the north of Blackheath, immediately adjacent to Greenwich Park in the south
  • Blackheath Park – another large park located in the southern part of Blackheath (near Eltham Road)
  • Blackheath Railway Station – see more information below

Blackheath Railway Station

Blackheath Station is a National Rail station on the Bexleyheath and North Kent lines. In the direction from central London it follows after Lewisham Station. Blackheath is the last station before the two lines split. The next stop on the Bexleyheath Line is Kidbrooke; the next stop on the North Kent Line is Charlton. There are tunnels shortly after Blackheath Station on either line: Kidbrooke Tunnel on the Bexleyheath Line and Blackheath Tunnel on the North Kent Line.
