There are many hotels where kids can stay for free, at no extra cost in addition to your room price.
Usually hotels are priced on a per room basis – there is price per the whole room quoted for the particular dates and the hotel sets restrictions on the maximum number of people that can stay in the room. For example, if a room has maximum capacity of 4 people, the price is the same regardless of the number of people that actually stay in the room – be it only 1 or a whole family of 4. The hotel would normally not allow more than 4 people in the room and you would have to book an additional room.
Nevertheless, in some hotels there may be an exception when the additional person is a kid (usually there is an age limit in such case). Often the extra person (kid) will get an extra bed which could be smaller than standard beds, so the age restriction does make sense here.
It is strongly recommended to make sure you know the hotel’s policy before arriving there, so you won’t have to pay for an additional room (or in a worse case, no more rooms will be available).

In some hotels that serve breakfast or also other meals, kids may get these meals for free. In such case the particular hotel usually informs about this in the notes and policies section too. If it doesn’t it is better to assume that the meals are not included.
